Laguna Beach Boys Get Top Billing in Division
Playoff pairings were released Sunday for boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball and girls’ water polo. Here’s a summary of the pairings.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Laguna Beach, which won its first league championship in at least 30 years, was the only county boys’ basketball team to receive a No. 1 seeding.
The Artists (19-6), tri-champions of the Pacific Coast League, open Division IV-AA play Friday, hosting the winner of a wild-card game between Agoura Oak Park and Los Angeles Salesian.
Division I-A is one of the stronger playoff brackets and includes defending champion Glendora and second-seeded Mater Dei (26-3). The Monarchs open Friday against the winner of Wednesday’s wild-card game between Simi Valley Royal and Los Angeles Loyola.
Defending state Division II champion Santa Margarita (24-2) drew a bye in Division II-A.
