Hinojosa Carries Moorpark

Damaris Hinojosa had a quadruple-double while playing three quarters to help Moorpark High defeat Fountain Valley Los Amigos, 76-22, in the first round of the Southern Section Division II-AA girls’ basketball playoffs Thursday night at Moorpark.

Hinojosa had 26 points, 17 rebounds, 14 steals, 10 assists and five blocked shots for No. 2-seeded Moorpark (23-2), which outscored Los Amigos, 27-2, in the third quarter.

The Pepperdine-bound Hinojosa made 11 of 18 shots.

No other Moorpark player scored in double figures.

Los Amigos finished 9-15.

In another Division II-AA opener:

Santiago 48, Agoura 34--Stephanie Reupena hit five three-pointers en route to 23 points to lead Santiago (20-7) past Agoura (11-16) in a first-round game.

Sega Asiata helped Santiago with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

DIVISION II-A

Newbury Park 66, Ridgecrest Burroughs 56--Angela Jensen had 16 points, including four three-pointers, as the Panthers beat host Ridgecrest Burroughs (15-6) in a first-round game.

Nancy Pabon also had 16 points, including six in the third quarter when Newbury Park (13-11) outscored Ridgecrest Burroughs, 17-8.

DIVISION III-AA

Alemany 83, San Dimas 23--Kate Beckler scored 10 points on four-of-five shooting in the first quarter and Alemany beat visiting San Dimas in a first-round game.

Alemany (19-7) made 14 of 15 shots and had seven steals in the first quarter. The Indians built a 32-4 lead after one quarter.

La Canada 54, South Hills 40--Lauren Guza had 11 points and seven assists to lead host La Canada (18-7) over South Hills (15-10) in a first-round game.

Lyndsay Fujimoto led all scorers with 14 points, and had two of her four three-point baskets in the first quarter when La Canada took a 16-3 lead.

DIVISION V-AA

Grace Brethren 47, Holy Martyrs 39--Twelve unanswered points to start the third quarter gave the host Lancers (15-9) a 13-point lead, which they would not relinquish in a wild-card game at Grace Brethren.

Zeigler, who finished with 15 points, keyed the run with six points. Crystal Roberts added 10 points for the Lancers.

Celina Rostam had 14 points for Holy Martyrs (11-12).

DIVISION V-A

Santa Clarita Christian 61, North County Christian 47--Amber Buehlman and Rachel Stone combined for 54 points for host Santa Clarita Christian (16-7).

Buehlman, a freshman forward, had a season-high 32 points for the Cardinals, who led, 33-16, at halftime.

Only four players scored for Santa Clarita Christian.

Liberty Christian 42, Hillcrest Christian 29--Crissy Davis led Liberty Christian (13-9) with 13 points and 12 rebounds despite foul trouble. Tiffany Potter chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds and Felicia Jao made seven assists and four steals for Liberty. Hillcrest Christian finished 9-5.
