Reseda Begins on 5-1 High

The Reseda High boys’ soccer team began its quest for a second consecutive City Section title Friday with a 5-1 defeat of Fremont in a first-round playoff game at Reseda.
Oscar Sims scored two of three second-half goals, increasing his total to 21. Jesse Servin scored two goals, boosting his total to 13, and Rosendo Gonzalez had three assists.
The Regents (21-3-2), seeded second, advance to host 18th-seeded Huntington Park on Wednesday.
In other first-round games:
Chatsworth 1, Palisades 1--Jose Dominguez gave 19th-seeded Chatsworth a 1-0 first-half lead on an assist from Cesar Gurrola and the Chancellors (8-4-3) went on to down the Dolphins (5-2-8) with a 4-2 edge in penalty kicks.
Chatsworth advances to face El Camino Real, a Northwest Valley rival, Wednesday at El Camino Real.
El Camino Real 3, Bell 0--Jose Rivera-Otero scored three goals and the third-seeded Conquistadores (17-4-2) coasted past the Eagles, who were 1998 City finalists, at El Camino Real.
Banning 2, Canoga Park 1--Manuel Dela Rosa scored from outside the penalty area in the 48th minute to lift Canoga Park (4-6-5) into a tie at second-seeded Banning in the Hunters’ first playoff appearance in more than 10 years.
Narbonne 3, Poly 1--The 17th-seeded Parrots (6-4-5) surrendered two goals in the final three minutes in a game called with less than a minute remaining because of a scuffle between the teams.
Juan Rodriguez’s goal in the 25th minute pulled Poly into a 1-1 tie. Three Parrot players were ejected in the late hostilities, said Poly Coach Jose Loza.
Monroe 5, Carson 0--Danny Corrales gave the 12th-seeded Vikings (10-3-2) a 1-0 halftime lead with his 13th goal and Oz Greek scored twice in the second half at Monroe.
