Asiata Leads Santiago Past La Quinta
Sega Asiata had 18 points and 15 rebounds to help Santiago defeat La Quinta, 58-56, in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Monday at Santiago.
Stephanie Reupena scored 19 points for the host Cavaliers (15-6, 6-1 in league), who led by eight points in the final minute before La Quinta scored late to make it close.
Nadiya Aziz scored 21 points for La Quinta (5-14, 3-4).

Los Amigos 44, Garden Grove 31--Karen Alvarez scored 14 points for visiting Los Amigos (6-13, 3-4).
Gloria Rojas scored 13 points for Garden Grove (7-14, 2-5).
Pacifica 80, Bolsa Grande 31--Dominique Valencia scored 22 points and Diana Barreras added 16 for visiting Pacifica (11-10, 6-1).
Debby Baeder scored 12 points for Bolsa Grande (8-13, 4-3).
In Garden Grove League boys’ basketball:
La Quinta 75, Santiago 47--Chris Smith scored 25 points and Ben Fredrickson had 22 for the visiting Aztecs (13-7, 5-2).
In Garden Grove League boys’ soccer:
Los Amigos 2, Garden Grove 0--Johnny Rocha and Jose Torres scored for the visiting Lobos (10-3-3, 5-0-2), who posted their eighth shutout.
Pacifica 2, Bolsa Grande 2--Armando Maciel scored the tying goal with five minutes remaining for host Bolsa Grande (5-8-3, 2-3-2). Brandon Chow and David Scheir scored goals to give Pacifica (9-7-3, 4-0-3) a 2-1 lead.
In Garden Grove League girls’ soccer:
La Quinta 3, Santiago 0--Sarah Skinner scored two goals, giving her 30 this season, for host La Quinta (7-4, 5-2).
Pacifica 6, Bolsa Grande 0--Amy Burcham and Tammi Fipps each had a goal and two assists for host Pacifica (17-1-4, 7-0).
