Penny Salac of Orange advanced to the semifinals of the girls’ 21-and-under division in the U.S. Junior National Badminton Championships at the Orange County Badminton Club.
Salac defeated Kristin Artman of St. Louis and will face Dina Grinshteyn of San Antonio in the semifinals Saturday. In doubles, Salac and partner Alison Brown also advanced to the semifinals.
In girls’ under-18 doubles, Rosie Pham and Cynthia Tran of Garden Grove High, advanced to the semifinals. They will play Villa Park’s Casey Peters and Alhambra Keppel’s Ellie Wu on Saturday.
