Westlake Triumphs Over Notre Dame on Reifman’s Single

Katie Reifman drove in Katie Kearns with a one-out single in the sixth inning to give Westlake High a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame in a nonleague softball game Tuesday at Westlake.

Reifman’s hit broke a 1-1 tie for the Warriors (5-0), ranked No. 3 in the region by The Times.

Kearns singled home Angela Southerland with none out in the sixth to tie the score. Errors allowed Westlake’s first two batters in the inning to reach base.

Reliever Erin Voeltz (4-0) of Westlake struck out the five batters she faced.

In other games:

Camarillo 5, Hueneme 0--Kathryn Nevard (2-0), a junior right-hander, pitched a no-hitter and struck out 15 for the Scorpions in a Pacific View League opener at Camarillo.

Alana Mendoza, Nikki Sutton and Erika Francis each had two hits for the Scorpions.

Simi Valley 4, Royal 0--Dianna Michael had three hits and knocked in three runs for the Pioneers in a Marmonte League opener at Royal (3-4).

Michael’s two-run double highlighted a three-run first inning for Simi Valley (6-0).

Brittney Green (4-0) allowed six hits, struck out nine and walked four.

Quartz Hill 7-4, Ridgecrest Burroughs 2-2--Jamie Booth hit a three-run homer in the first inning of the first game, Olaya Salazar drove in two runs in the second game and the Rebels (7-1) swept a nonleague doubleheader at Quartz Hill.

Booth finished with two hits in the first game and tripled in the second for Quartz Hill, ranked No. 5 in the region.

El Camino Real 19, Palisades 0--Kelsey Walker’s three-run home run sparked a 10-run fourth inning in a nonconference game that was called after 4 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule at El Camino Real.

Cara Blumfield and Ashley Redlin homered in the fourth inning. Christina Enea had two hits and three runs batted in for El Camino Real (6-2).

Poly 13, Belmont 1--Eilen Bermudez pitched a four-hitter and hit a two-run home run for the Parrots (2-2) in a nonconference game at Poly.

Bermudez (2-2) struck out seven and walked three.

Flintridge Sacred Heart 8, La Salle 4--Catherine Hugar’s two-run single for the Tologs in the sixth inning broke open a nonleague game at La Salle.

Hugar finished with two hits for Flintridge Sacred Heart (7-1), which scored three runs in the sixth inning.

Hoover 4, Eisenhower 0--Rosa Diaz hit a two-run double for the Tornadoes (3-2) in the second inning of a nonleague game at Hoover.
