Reed Johnson

Baseball

In three games last week, Johnson batted .500, getting seven hits in 14 at-bats. He scored five runs.

Johnson, a junior center fielder from Temecula, has an eight-game hitting streak in which he has batted .564. During the streak, he has raised his batting average 40 points to .394. Johnson has scored 88 runs this season and is 10 shy of the Titan record set by Tim Wallach in 1979 heading into next week’s regional playoffs.

THIS WEEK

Softball: The Titans are back in an NCAA regional tournament after a two-year absence. Fullerton (34-27) plays Tennessee (44-25) at 10 a.m. today in the double-elimination tournament hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle. Other teams in the field are Washington, Hawaii, Texas A&M; and Colgate.

Track and field: The Titans are hosts for the Big West Conference championships this week. The field events begin at 10 a.m. and the running events at 2 p.m. Friday. Field events start at 10:30 a.m. and running events at 1 p.m. Saturday. Fullerton’s Brandon Campbell has the conference’s best long jump of the season at 23 feet, 8 3/4 inches.
