GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFF ROUNDUP

In a Division I-AA second-round match:

Newport Harbor 3, San Gabriel 0--April Ross and Krista Dill each had nine kills and Signe Hillyard had 19 assists for top-seeded Newport Harbor, which won, 15-3, 15-2, 15-8. The Sailors (30-2) play Palos Verdes Peninsula in the third round.

In Division I-A:

Mater Dei 3, Victorville Silverado 1--Breegan Mulligan had 20 kills, Lindsay Pavlik had 16 and Ashley Bayer had six blocks for top-seeded Mater Dei (15-11), which won, 15-2, 15-7, 14-16, 15-5. The Monarchs will play Claremont in the third round.

In a Division II-AA first-round match:

Cypress 3, El Modena 1--Becky Guess had 14 kills, Kristy Schmitz had 28 assists and Lisa Jones had five aces to lead Cypress (13-3) to a 15-6, 13-15, 15-5, 15-12 victory. Sela Moa had 17 kills for visiting El Modena (9-7).

In Division III-AA:

Corona del Mar 3, San Jacinto 0--Dimitra Havirluk has six kills and nine aces for third-seeded Corona del Mar (14-5), which won 15-1, 15-2, 15-2. The Sea Kings will play Rosary in the second round.
