Quarterback Jason Whieldon passed for 235 yards and three touchdowns Thursday night as Orange Lutheran completed an unbeaten regular season with a 56-27 victory over Calvary Chapel in an Olympic League game at Orange Coast College.

Whieldon completed 12 of 20 passes. He also rushed for a game-high 126 yards and two touchdowns in seven carries before leaving after the third quarter.

The Lancers (10-0, 5-0) showed no signs of a letdown after clinching the league title and a playoff berth last week.

“That’s a credit to our kids and my coaches,” Orange Lutheran Coach Jim Kunau said. “There was no letdown in practice all week.”

The Lancers scored twice in the game’s first four minutes and the outcome was never in doubt.

Whieldon hit Ryan Nath for touchdown passes of 43 and 10 yards to give Orange Lutheran a 12-0 lead after its first two possessions. Then Whieldon rushed for touchdowns of 87 and 14 yards in the second quarter.

“Obviously, I’m biased, but I think he’s the top quarterback in the county,” Kunau said. “He did what he’s been doing all year.”

The Eagles (2-8, 1-4) trailed, 48-0, before scoring their first touchdown late in the third quarter, then put together a scoring flurry with three fourth-quarter scores.

Freshman quarterback Brent Concolino--starting in place of Luke Garner, who was dismissed from school for an unspecified violation of school rules--completed seven of 11 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the final period.
