It didn’t take long for Harvard-Westlake High to establish its superiority over rival Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in a Mission League girls’ volleyball match Thursday night at La Canada Flintridge.

It took only one hour 15 minutes for Harvard-Westlake to polish off the Tologs by scores of 15-6, 15-4 and 15-12.

It was the 66th consecutive league victory since 1993 for the Wolverines, who captured the Southern Section Division III-A title last season.

In reality, the match was over much sooner than the time it took.

The Wolverines (15-5, 4-0) rolled off the final nine points of game one behind sophomore outside hitter Ashley Julian to put away the Tologs (6-3, 3-1).

The Wolverines scored 10 of the last 11 points in the second game.

Flintridge Sacred Heart, which has finished second to Harvard-Westlake in the league the last three seasons, was more competitive in the final game but the result was the same.

“We’ve been playing some tough teams in tough tournaments,” Coach Jess Quiroz of Harvard-Westlake said. “We might play down to some teams but we were ready [Thursday night].”

Julian, who has moved to outside hitter after starting the season as a setter, had 13 kills. Anna Nesser had eight kills and seven digs, and Kelly Ayers added six kills.

Outside hitter Brynne Young had seven kills and seven digs for Flintridge Sacred Heart. Lindsay Davis added seven kills and six digs and Sarah Skeehan six kills and five blocks.
