From Staff Reports

Pete Loporchio, who has guided both the Crescenta Valley High boys’ swimming and water polo teams to seven consecutive Pacific League titles, will step down as a coach at the end of the school year.

No replacements have been named. Jan Sakonju, a Crescenta Valley graduate who is an assistant with both teams, is interested in the position, according to Loporchio.

“[Coaching] takes a tremendous amount of time. I’ve got two small kids at home, and it just seems like it’s time,” said Loporchio, who is in his 19th year of coaching.
