La Canada def. Flintridge Sacred Heart, 10-15, 15-10, 14-16, 15-11, 15-12--The Spartans defeated Flintridge Sacred Heart (1-1) for the first time since 1993 in a nonleague match at La Canada.
Kelly Gaudino had 34 kills, the most by a La Canada player since Tiffany Neumeier had 33 in 1994.
Julie Taylor had 16 kills and Vanessa Young added 13 kills and 14 blocks in the three-hour match for the Spartans (2-0).
Tracy Neumeier had 80 assists and Daniela Sabo had 10 blocks.
Simi Valley def. Burbank, 15-10, 15-10, 15-9--Elise Metcalf had 16 kills, Athena Mallakis had 11 and Kelly McCamy had six aces for the Pioneers (2-0) in a nonleague victory at Simi Valley.
Cornerstone Christian def. Rio Mesa, 15-10, 15-5, 15-9--Tiffanie Monzo had eight aces and 15 assists and Lisa Gin had five blocks for the Eagles in a nonleague victory at Rio Mesa.
Highland def. Canyon, 15-8, 15-6, 2-15, 9-15, 15-1--Meghan Stewart had 10 kills and 16 assists for the Bulldogs in a nonleague victory at Highland.
Nicole Rawson had nine kills and 19 digs for Highland (2-0).
Oxnard def. Ventura, 1-15, 15-12, 15-8, 2-15, 16-14--Sarah Morrison had 16 kills and five blocks, and Hilary Wallace had five aces and 25 assists to help the Yellowjackets (1-0) edge the Cougars (0-1) in a nonleague match at Oxnard.
St. Bonaventure def. Louisville, 15-12, 15-13, 8-15, 15-13--Colleen Hamlin had 14 kills for the Royals (0-1) in a nonleague match at St. Bonaventure.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Burroughs 18, Village Christian 0--Alicia Madux won 18 of her 24 games for the Indians (3-0) in a nonleague match at Burroughs.
Rio Mesa 12, Santa Paula 6--Jennifer Carroll won two of three sets and for the Spartans (2-1) in a nonleague match at Camarillo Racquet Club.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
The Master’s def. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 15-10, 15-6, 15-4--Kim Gibson and Bethany Barrington combined for 21 kills for the Mustangs (9-6) in a nonconference sweep at the Master’s.
Canyons def. Antelope Valley, 15-9, 15-9, 15-7--Sharon Foster had eight kills and 12 digs, and Jamie Foster added seven kills for the Cougars (1-0) at Canyons.
WOMEN’S WATER POLO
Valley 20, El Camino 4--Shelly Stiles scored four goals, and Shareen Pena and Kristen Bonnelly each added three in a nonconference match at Valley.
Valley (2-2) led at halftime, 11-1.
