In another Serra League game:

Bellflower St. John Bosco 10, Servite 4--Sophomore starter Anthony Johnson pitched six innings to pick up his third win for host St. John Bosco (8-3, 4-1).

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 9, Huntington Beach 2--Senior right-hander Casey Janssen struck out seven and gave up three hits and one unearned run in five innings to improve to 3-0 for Fountain Valley (12-2, 6-1). Sophomore first baseman Josh Bartusick had a two-run homer in the first inning and scored four runs for Fountain Valley. Huntington Beach is 6-8, 2-5.

In the Joe Barry Junior Masters golf tournament:

Santa Margarita wins--Santa Margarita, third after the first day, came from eight strokes back to win the two-day tournament in Sacramento. The Eagles rallied to overtake Sacramento Jesuit and win by 10 strokes with a team score of 756.

Scott Manley shot even-par 72 Saturday and Santa Margarita teammate Steve Conway shot 73 Saturday and finished with a 149 total for the tournament.

The tournament was played at Haggin Oak Friday and Saturday at Ancil Hoffman, both par 72.

Palm Desert finished third with 768.

In nonleague volleyball:

No. 3 Corona del Mar 3, No. 9 Newport Harbor 1--Senior Greg Stampley had 28 kills for the host Sea Kings (7-1), who won, 15-5, 13-15, 15-10, 15-9. Senior Chris Shepardson and junior Brian Gallagher each had 12 kills and Stanford-bound setter Kevin Hansen had 61 assists for Corona del Mar, which took advantage of some Newport Harbor unforced errors to take control.

“When two evenly matched teams are battling out there, it’s the little things that make the difference,” Corona del Mar Coach Steve Conti said. “Kevin made some incredible digs out there and that really gave us a lift as a team.”

Billy Clayton had 15 kills and 11 digs and Dustin Illingworth had 13 kills for Newport Harbor (5-3).
