* Kjell Nesen, a redshirt freshman quarterback at Washington State, will transfer to another school, Coach Mike Price said Friday.

Nesen, from St. Francis High, was a redshirt last fall and was expected to battle for backup playing time next fall with freshman Matt Kegel.

Nesen, who lives in Westlake Village, was listed as the third-string quarterback coming out of spring practice.

The Cougars’ starter, sophomore Jason Gesser, will be backed up by Kegel, senior Paul Mencke and freshman Tali Ena.
