Crescenta Valley Reaches Final

Sophomore Jimmy Goffredo scored 26 points and James Jenkins added 20 to help Crescenta Valley High defeat Oxnard, 70-63, in a semifinal of the Saugus boys’ basketball tournament Friday night.

Goffredo scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, making eight of 10 free throws, as the Falcons pulled away after Oxnard had tied the score, 57-57, with 4:38 to play.

Goffredo also contributed four steals and six rebounds. Jenkins had 12 rebounds.

Crescenta Valley (4-0) will play Ridgecrest Burroughs (4-0) in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. today.

Nicholas Curtis had 19 points and 17 rebounds for Oxnard (2-1).

In other Saugus tournament games:

Ridgecrest Burroughs 72, Saugus 57--Bradford Sayer and Elliott Behar each scored 13 points for Saugus (2-1), but it wasn’t enough to offset a big night by Burroughs center Rory O’Neil in a semifinal.

O’Neil, a 6-foot-11 senior who has signed with USC, had 32 points, 16 rebounds and four blocked shots.
