In other Southern Section semifinals:

Chino 48, Downey 41--Gabe Rivera rushed for 185 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winner in the second overtime, as the Cowboys upset the previously unbeaten Vikings in a Division II game at Downey.

Chino, which will play Baseline League rival Upland in the championship game Friday, clinched it when its defense recovered a fumble by Downey’s Darryl Tatum at the eight-yard line on a second-down play.

Ventura 34, Lompoc 21--Running back Tyler Ebell continued his amazing season by rushing for 319 yards in 38 carries and scoring five touchdowns in the Cougars’ Division IV victory over the Braves at Ventura.

The effort raised Ebell’s season rushing total to 4,220 yards, breaking the national record of 4.087 yards held by Travis Henry, now at Tennessee. The UCLA-bound Ebell set a state record with his 61st touchdown, breaking the 59-touchdown record held by DeShaun Foster, now at UCLA.

Newport Harbor 35, La Mirada 16--Chris Manderino had 30 carries for 278 yards and two touchdowns as the Sailors advanced to the Division VI championship game with a victory over the Matadores.

Newport Harbor quarterback Morgan Craig completed seven of 11 for 128 yards and two touchdowns with five of the completions going to Brian Gaeta.

Los Altos 28, California 27--Dominic Melano’s extra point with 36 seconds remaining was the difference in the Division VII game after the top-seeded Conquerors blew a 21-0 advantage and watched the Condors score 27 points in a six-minute span of the second half to take a temporary lead.

St. Bonaventure 36, Carpinteria 7--Lorenzo Booker scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to break open a 22-7 game and led the Seraphs to a victory over the Warriors in the Division XI game at Moorpark High. Booker finished with 177 yards in 23 carries.
