SEASON AT A GLANCE: Curtis, a 6-foot-8 center, has averaged 18.1 points, 14.2 rebounds, 3.6 blocked shots and 2.5 steals while leading Oxnard to an 8-2 record and a No. 5 ranking in The Times’ regional poll.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Curtis totaled 40 points and 28 rebounds in victories over Simi Valley and Ventura. He had 24 points and 17 rebounds in a 68-56 victory against Simi Valley and 6-9 center Dustin Villepigue. “He and Dustin have been playing against each other since they were young kids,” Oxnard Coach Henry Lobo said. “So it was a big thing for him. He wasn’t going to be embarrassed and he wanted to play well. He wanted to play his best and I think he did.”
