Giles’ Shooting Leads Concordia
Josh Giles made all seven of his three-point attempts and scored 34 points to lead Concordia to a 92-54 victory over Hope International in a Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Thursday at Concordia.
Giles, who also became the first Concordia player to score 2,000 points in a career, made 12 of 13 shots from the field and had eight assists for the Eagles (13-9, 5-6).
Matt Sebastian scored a season-high 18 points for Concordia and Brian Vander Wal, who leads the NAIA in field-goal percentage (71%), had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Tiante Tims scored 15 points for Hope International (7-17, 0-11), and Seth Houck had 11.
In another Golden State Athletic Conference game:
Cal Baptist 95, Vanguard 88--Olin Simplis scored 25 points and made 14 rebounds for Cal Baptist (15-10, 6-5).
John Kohlhass scored 37 points, making 10 of 11 free throws for Vanguard (11-12, 3-8).
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:
Vanguard 75, Cal Baptist 64--Becki Huddle scored 22 points and Laura Lee had 19 for visiting Vanguard, which trailed by five at halftime but shot 57% from the field in the second half. Kelly Boeke had 11 points and 16 rebounds for the Lions (20-4, 9-2), ranked 13th nationally in the NAIA.
