ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Keith Jarbo
SCHOOL: Burroughs
YEAR: Junior
SPORT: Basketball
SEASON AT A GLANCE: After a successful football season, Jarbo has excelled on the basketball team. He leads Burroughs with averages of 15.9 points and 4.7 assists. Not coincidentally, the Indians (16-5, 7-1) could clinch the Foothill League title with a victory tonight against rival Burbank.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Jarbo scored 26 points twice in victories over Valencia and Saugus, and set school shooting-percentage records each time. Against Valencia, he made 10 of 11 shots (90.9%), breaking the record set in 1972 by Jon Chance, who made 12 of 14 (85.7%) against Hoover. Three days later, Jarbo again set the record, making 11 of 12 shots (91.7%). “And they’re not dunks,” Coach Art Sullivan said.
