In other City Championship playoff games:

Birmingham 3, Fairfax 0--Francisco Flores scored two goals and John Ortega added one to lead the Patriots (17-4-3).

El Camino Real 2, Huntington Park 0--Tony Sangari and Ede Ibekwe scored one goal each for the Conquistadores (18-4-5).

Sylmar 2, L.A. Banning 0--Jaime Castellanos scored in the 15th and 55th minutes and Sylmar, the No. 29-seeded team in the 32-team playoffs, upset No. 4-seeded Banning at Banning.

Christian Pelayo made seven saves to record his sixth shutout this season for Sylmar (10-9-5).

In Southern Section playoffs:

Thousand Oaks 2, Upland 2--Nathan Chu scored a goal and converted the decisive penalty kick in a shootout to give Thousand Oaks a Division I first-round victory. It was Chu’s first game back after missing two weeks with a partially torn Achilles’ heel.

Thousand Oaks (16-4-4) rallied from a 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 edge, but the Lancers were called for a foul in the penalty area. Upland converted a penalty kick with two minutes to go to force overtime. After the overtime and sudden-death overtime periods, the Lancers won the shootout, 5-4.

Buena 1, Cerritos 1--Goalkeeper Randy Klamser preserved Buena’s 5-4 shootout victory by blocking Efren Mata’s shot in the last penalty kick of the Division II playoff game. Jason Bradbury of Buena provided the winning penalty kick.

Hart 3, La Serna 0--Chris Ciccone scored two goals and goalkeeper Kyle Reynish recorded his 13th shutout for the host Indians (19-5-2) in Division II.

Reynish had eight saves and broke the school single-season record for saves (240) and shutouts in a season. Hart also set a school single-season record for victories.

Ventura 4, Saugus 0--Brian Anderson had a goal and an assist for Ventura, which ran its unbeaten streak to 17 games with a Division II victory at Ventura College.

Royal 1, San Marcos 0--Peter Bauman scored his third goal of the season in the 65th minute for Royal (19-7-3) in a Division II game at San Marcos.

Quartz Hill 3, Sultana 0--Kyle Gookins scored his 25th goal and Ian McClung notched his sixth consecutive shutout for the Rebels (15-4-2) in a Division II game at Quartz Hill.

Burroughs 2, Norwalk 1--Eric Lopez scored from the 18-yard line two minutes into sudden death overtime for host Burroughs (10-9-6) in a Division III game.
