Moorpark, Oxnard Tie for Title

Trevor Lorz had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Dan Galvanoni added 19 points for Moorpark (23-7, 8-2), which clinched a share of the Western State Conference Northern Division championship with its 80-75 victory Saturday over Hancock at Moorpark.

Oxnard (21-8, 8-2) shared the division title. The Condors got 22 points and 11 rebounds from Tellys Knight in edging Santa Barbara, 88-86, Saturday.

Moorpark, which hasn’t won a conference championship since 1983, defeated Oxnard, 62-59, in overtime Feb. 5 and will advance to the Southern California Regional as the division’s top team because of its better overall record.

Valley 79, West L.A. 76--Donell Williams’ three-point attempt to tie the game at the buzzer was blocked by Valley’s Felix Lang and the Monarchs clinched the WSC Southern Division title for the second time in four years.

Williams had a layup blocked by Issac Williamson, but recovered the ball in three-point territory for the final attempt by West L.A. (5-21, 2-10).

Lang made a driving layup with 24 seconds left to put Valley ahead 78-76 and take the lead for good. Lang had 17 points and Issac Williamson added 20 for the Monarchs (23-8, 10-2).

WOMENS’ BASKETBALL

Canyons 82, Glendale 43--Tasha Allen scored 29 points for host Canyons in a Western State Conference South Division game.

Siosi Tull had 12 points and 19 rebounds for Canyons (24-6, 12-0). Glendale is 16-13, 3-9.

Ventura 86, Oxnard 19--Bryanna Norton had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead five Pirates (33-0, 12-0) in double figures in a WSC Northern Division game at Ventura.

BASEBALL

UC Santa Barbara 6, CS Northridge 2--Gabe Neboyia pitched a four-hitter and struck out 13 batters for host Santa Barbara (6-4) in a nonconference game.

Neboyia walked three and allowed one earned run.

Tim Coltey, Adrian Mendoza, Eric Horvat and Bill Murphy had the hits for Northridge (4-5), which was shut out until Mendoza drove in J.T. Stotts with a two-out single in the sixth inning.

Murphy doubled to drive in Aaron McKenzie with two out in the seventh.

Andy Campanella, from Crespi High, had two hits for UCSB.
