Dons’ King, Baker and Laeli Selected All-State in Football
Three players from Santa Ana--running back Camron King, offensive lineman Joel Baker and defensive lineman Elia Laeli--were selected to the all-state football team.
King, who set Santa Ana’s career and single-season rushing records this season, also was named the most valuable offensive player on the Region IV team.
Also on the Region IV offensive team were: tight end Tim Thurman (Golden West), wide receivers Jeremiah Armendariz (Santa Ana) and Ray Ohrel (Orange Coast), offensive linemen Baker and David Wilford (Santa Ana), quarterback Greg Cicero (Palomar, Servite High), running backs King and Brian McDonald (Cerritos, Buena Park High), and kick returner Joseph Tagaloa (Santa Ana).
Laeli, linebackers Kevin Hastin (Fullerton) and Jack Tucker (Cerritos, Kennedy High) and punter Jayson Simpson (Fullerton) were on the first-team defense.
Saddleback offensive tackle John Vorsheck has committed to attend Arizona, Gaucho Coach Mark McElroy said. Vorsheck, from Laguna Hills High, was an All-Mission Conference selection.
