Campbell Makes Grade at Colorado

Former Corona del Mar High setter Kelly Campbell, an All-American volleyball player at Colorado, is one of a dozen Big 12 athletes to receive $5,000 postgraduate scholarships, the conference announced this week.
The fourth annual awards are given to seniors who have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 and have participated on a sports team at least two years. They must also intend to enroll in graduate or professional school within two years after graduation.
Campbell, who has an internship with Student Sports Magazine in Southern California this summer, said last week that she plans to graduate from Colorado in December with a degree in radio/television/broadcasting.
Campbell is one of the most decorated players in Colorado history. She is Colorado’s first academic All-American and was the first player in Big 12 history to be named all-conference and academic all-conference four consecutive times.
She set an NCAA career record in assists per game (14.45). Her 6,228 career assists rank seventh all-time and she didn’t miss a game at Colorado, playing in 431.
