Gray Resigns as Ventura Girls’ Coach
Glenn Gray II, who guided Ventura High to a 25-2 record and the No. 1 ranking in the region, has resigned as girls’ basketball coach.
Gray was 86-45 in five seasons after serving eight seasons as an assistant to his father, Glenn, at Ventura.
“I have a unique opportunity to spend more time with my family,” said Gray, whose sons, Zane and Tanner, are 4 and 1.
Ventura climbed to the top of The Times’ regional rankings with two victories over nationally ranked Buena and three tournament titles. The Cougars shared their first Channel League championship since 1991 and advanced to the third round of the Southern Section Division I-A playoffs.
Guard Katy O’Brien and key reserves Jenni Dooley, Kelly Fay and Liz Newman are among the players expected to return for Ventura.
