N. Hollywood Man Slain; Police Seeking Suspect
A 38-year-old man was shot to death, allegedly by a friend, after an argument early Monday morning, Los Angeles police said.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired found Craig Evan Shemwell on the bathroom floor of his apartment on the 11400 block of Emelita Street about 3:20 a.m., said Los Angeles Police Det. Steve Metz. Shemwell had been shot in the upper torso and was pronounced dead at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills at 4 a.m., said Metz.
Police were searching for Johnny Whitfield, 36, of Fontana, in connection with the death.
About 3 a.m. Monday Whitfield went to Shemwell’s apartment and they argued outside, Metz said. Whitfield allegedly shot Shemwell several times with a handgun, he said.
Whitfield fled in a late-model, white four door car. Anyone with information is asked to call North Hollywood detectives at (818) 623-4075 or (818) 623-4016.
