Canoga Park High ended a losing streak in baseball at 38 games with a 4-3 victory over Sunset Six League leader Poly on Monday at Poly.

When shortstop Jeremy Egan caught a pop fly with the tying run on base to end the game, Canoga Park won its first game since May 4, 1998 against Reseda. The Hunters were winless last season and 0-12 going into Monday.

Danny Flores, a junior pitcher who was academically ineligible until last week, shut out the Parrots (17-6, 9-2 in league play) through five innings. Jose Santos came on in the seventh to earn a save.

The Hunters (1-12, 1-10) scored three runs in the first inning on a home run by freshman Jimmy Roberts and run-scoring singles by Cullen Cower and Carlos Flores.

“It feels like we’ve won a championship,” Egan said.
