Servite’s Carter Wins Serra Individual Title

Ryan Carter of Servite finished with a two-day score of par 144 to win the Serra League boys’ individual golf title Wednesday at Western Hills Country Club.

Nico Bollini (Servite), Taylor Wood (Santa Margarita), Steve Conway (Santa Margarita), Andrew Price (Santa Margarita) and Chris Gallagher (Santa Margarita) also qualified for Southern Section individual finals.

In the Empire League golf finals:

Ironroad wins--Last year, El Dorado’s Chris Ironroad finished third in the league championships. He improved this season, shooting a two-day 147 at Dad Miller and Los Serranos to win the individual title.

In the Sunset League finals:

Underclassmen score--Sophomore Jay Choe of Esperanza shot a two-under 141 and Huntington Beach sophomore Andy Anderson was second at 146 at Dad Miller and Los Serranos.

In the South Coast League:

San Clemente 391, Capistrano Valley 410--League champion Neil McDaniel earned medalist honors on with a one-over 73 for the Tritons (11-7, 6-4) at Pacific Country Club. Justin Hales finished with 78.

In Golden West League softball:

Santa Ana 1, Ocean View 0--Maria DeLeon’s third-inning RBI proved to be the winner for Santa Ana (9-10, 6-3).

In the Orange League:

Valencia 4, Savanna 0--Michelle Whiteman pitched a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts for visiting Valencia (12-12, 3-4). Rebecca Robinson had three hits and an RBI for the Tigers.

In the Sea View League:

No. 10 Aliso Niguel 2, Irvine 1--Lindsay Schafer’s two-run single with two out in the bottom of the sixth won it for host Aliso Niguel (17-7-1, 4-1).

Freshman Amanda Samonte pitched a five-hitter with no walks for the Wolverines, who took over sole possession of first place.

In the South Coast League:

Mission Viejo 1, Capistrano Valley 0 (10 innings)--Sophomore Alexis Quon singled home Jen Roberts and Ashley Fricks pitched a two-hitter for the visiting Diablos (10-13, 3-4). Jillian Miles (7-9) took the loss for Capistrano Valley (12-12, 4-3).

San Clemente 3, El Toro 2--Sara Schoenfeld had three hits and Brittany Green, Veronica Lauzon and Stephanie Ott each drove in a run for visiting San Clemente (12-12, 5-2).
