Santiago’s Hopton Wins 200 Freestyle
Santiago’s James Hopton won the 200-yard freestyle at the Southern Section Division III swim championships Saturday at Belmont Plaza Pool.
Hopton, a senior, had a time of 1 minute 42.01 seconds.
Justin Boyes won the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly to lead Paso Robles to the boys’ championship. Boyes was named the boys’ swimmer of the meet.
Morgan Hentzen won the 500 freestyle and Anissa Hilyard won the 100 butterfly to lead Whittier La Serna to the girls’ championship. La Serna also won the 400 freestyle relay.
Hemet’s Heather Kemp won the 100 and 200 freestyles and was named girls’ swimmer of the meet.
