Camarillo Gets Bishop Amat

Camarillo High hosts No. 3-seeded Bishop Amat on Tuesday in the second round of the Southern Section Division I baseball playoffs.

The Scorpions routed Crescenta Valley, 13-0, in their opener. Bishop Amat beat Schurr, 11-1.

In Division II second-round games Tuesday, Thousand Oaks plays at Woodbridge, Hart travels to Calexico and Palmdale goes to La Mirada.

Westlake is at Paso Robles and Burroughs hosts Charter Oak in Division III.

In Division IV, Notre Dame hosts St. Paul and Chaminade travels to Nordhoff.

In Division V, St. Bonaventure hosts Pasadena Poly, Paraclete hosts Montclair Prep, Lancaster Desert Christian travels to Carpinteria, Campbell Hall goes to Downey Calvary Chapel and Village Christian plays at Bishop Union.

Grace Brethren hosts Victor Valley Christian, Faith Baptist hosts Viewpoint, First Lutheran hosts La Verne Lutheran and Thacher travels to Dunn in Division VI.

GOLF

* Michael Beard of Pepperdine shot seven-under-par 65 and won the NCAA West Regional title by four strokes Saturday at Riverbend Golf Club in Fresno.

Beard finished at 71-68-65--204, 12 under par.

Brandon DiTullio of UCLA, from Thousand Oaks, also advanced to the NCAA Championships by finishing in a tie for fifth at 69-70-71--210.

Arizona won the team title and Pepperdine advanced by finishing ninth.

* Jim Bracken, who led Cal State Northridge to its first Big Sky Conference title, has been selected conference coach of the year.

BASKETBALL

* Center Carlos Arroyo of Bell-Jeff has signed with Cal State Dominguez Hills.

DIVING

* Dive Thousand Oaks has openings for boys 10-15.
