Rosary Stunned by Chaminade
Christina Lupacchini pitched a three-hitter, Courtney Whale had her third consecutive game-winning hit--a two-out, sixth-inning double--and Chaminade eliminated top-seeded Rosary, 1-0, in the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Division IV softball playoffs Thursday.
The Royals (23-9), retired in order only twice, stranded six runners, four in scoring position.
“They capitalized on what seemed like their only opportunity,” Coach Tom Tice said. “We just didn’t get the key hit or take advantage when we had the chances.”
