Courtney Fossatti
Foothill, Softball
Fossatti, who missed the ’99 postseason with an injury, pitched the third-seeded Knights into the Southern Section Division I semifinals, improving to 22-1 this season by out-dueling Fountain Valley’s
Natalie King to post a one-hit, 1-0 victory over the Barons in Thursday’s quarterfinals. Fossatti also struck out 10 and pitched a three-hitter in a 10-0 win over Palos Verdes Peninsula in the second round.

Pitched five shutout innings and had a double, single and two RBIs in 5-0 win over Perris in Division III quarterfinals.

Edison, Track and Field
Cleared 5 feet 10 inches, the top state qualifying mark at the Masters meet, to equal the year’s top mark in the state.
Kevin Hansen
Corona del Mar, Volleyball
The 6-foot-4 Stanford-bound setter closed out his career in grand fashion, teaming with USC-bound outside hitter Greg Stampley for a tough one-two punch that led the Sea Kings to two wins and the Southern Section Division I championship last week. Hansen played with an injured finger and ankle in the final, but still had 61 assists to quarterback the Sea Kings to a five-game victory over rival Newport Harbor.

Servite, Golf
Shot five-under-par 67 at Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs to win the Southern Section individual title.

Newport Harbor, Track
Posted the top qualifying marks for this week’s state meet in the 110 and 300 hurdles at the Masters meet.
