Lancisero Carries El Modena Past Foothill

Adam Lancisero rushed for 173 yards and scored two first-half touchdowns to lead El Modena to a 21-14 Century League victory over Foothill Friday at El Modena High.

Both teams join Villa Park, a 62-21 winner over Santa Ana Valley Thursday, in securing berths in the Southern Section Division VI playoffs, which begin in two weeks.

El Modena and Foothill are tied for second behind Villa Park. Foothill (4-5, 3-1) can still earn a share of the league title next Friday with a victory over visiting Villa Park. El Modena (7-2, 3-1) finishes its regular season against winless Orange next Thursday.

Foothill opened the game with a 13-play drive that stalled when Derek Fitch was unable to complete a pass on fourth down at the Vanguard 34-yard line.

Lancisero raced 35 yards into Knight territory the first time he touched the ball. The second time resulted in a 32-yard touchdown run with 3 minutes 49 seconds left in the quarter.

Michael Pitre recovered a fumble by Foothill running back Mike Liti on the Knights’ next play from scrimmage. Lancisero would later score on a three-yard run. Foothill cut the Vanguards’ lead in half when Fitch connected with Tyler Krudwig on an eight-yard touchdown pass play with 1:32 left in the half.

Pitre would tally the winning touchdown for the Vanguards on a seven-yard run with three minutes left in the third quarter. Jason Jacobs recovered a Lancisero fumble late in the game and returned it 67 yards for Foothill’s other touchdown.
