Ventura 13, Lompoc Cabrillo 5--Teague Savitch scored four goals for the Cougars in a victory at Paul Nelson Pool in Santa Maria.
Savitch, a junior who sat out Ventura’s 11-10 victory over Cabrillo last month, scored a goal to help the Cougars take a 6-2 halftime lead.
Ventura (22-5) took its largest lead, 12-3, on a goal by Andy McAnally with 2:04 to play.
“[Savitch] makes a big difference,” Coach Joe Abing said. “We were in better condition [Wednesday]. Last time, we were tired after having a practice that morning.”
Derek Doler, Nick Wagner and Paul Carter each had two goals for Ventura, which received a big effort from goalie David Miller.
The Cougars will play Royal in a semifinal Saturday.
Daniel Pierce had two goals for Cabrillo (21-4).
Royal 12, Righetti 6--Ramiro Saldain scored five goals, including two in the first quarter as the top-seeded Highlanders took command early at Paul Nelson Pool in Santa Maria.
Royal (26-3) scored the first six goals, getting two second-quarter scores from Craig Whitney.
Saldain had three goals in the third quarter, capped by a steal and breakaway that gave the Highlanders an 11-3 lead with two seconds left in the quarter.
Sean Carnahan and Tyler Templeton each scored twice for Royal.
