GIRLS’ TENNIS PLAYOFF ROUNDUP
In Division I:
Dana Hills 17, Upland 1--Visiting Dana Hills swept in doubles and got sweeps from Kady Pooler and Amy Vyhnis in singles against the third-seeded Highlanders. The Dolphins, seeded second, will play top-seeded Peninsula in the finals Monday at the Claremont Club.
Palos Verdes Peninsula 17, Capistrano Valley 1--By defeating Shelpi Joshi, 6-1, in No. 1 singles, sophomore Lauren Jones provided the fourth-seeded Cougars (16-8) their only victory.
In Division II:
Beverly Hills 17, University 1--Sophomore Aimee Kim posted the only victory for the Trojans’ (14-8) against top-seeded Beverly Hills.
A back injury forced University’s No. 2 singles player, Megan Biorkman, to default during her third set.
Troy 10, Woodbridge 8--Michelle Dinh and Karen Eitan, and Stacey Lee and Veronica Fermin swept in doubles for second-seeded Troy (22-4). Sophomore Calina Ciobanu won, 6-2, against Woodbridge senior Marni Spitz to give Troy another key point.
In Division IV:
Corona del Mar 18, Chaminade 0--Anne Yelsey and Britanny Reitz lost just one game while sweeping for the top-seeded Sea Kings (24-2), who will play second-seeded Calabasas in the final.
In Division V:
Laguna Beach 16, Brentwood 2--Laguna Beach, the two-time defending Southern Section defending champions, return to the title game against third-seeded Los Angeles Marlborough.
The top-seeded Artists (15-6) received 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, victories from sophomore Camerin Barron-Sandman in singles slot, and 6-1, 6-1, 6-3, and Caroline Tucker and Meghan MacGillivray in doubles.
