Agoura vs. Dos Pueblos. Or is it Dos Pueblos vs. Agoura?
The teams are identical enough to make one wonder.
Both are nicknamed Chargers, wear blue and gold and have 7-4 records entering a Division IV quarterfinal Friday at San Marcos.
Both pulled off first-round upsets, Dos Pueblos defeating Hueneme, 22-20, and Agoura defeating San Luis Obispo, 44-34.
Both have beaten teams they’re supposed to beat and lost to teams they’re supposed to lose to.
Which Chargers team will advance to the semifinals? Based on offense, give the edge to Agoura.
Brad Altman rushed for 239 yards and two touchdowns against San Luis Obispo, and Chris Denove ended a slight slump by throwing for 302 yards and four touchdowns.
“He made a whole bunch of big, critical plays,” Agoura Coach Charlie Wegher said. “The thing that impressed me was that he was calling a lot of audibles that were the right calls.”
