Santa Paula 28, Channel Islands 27--Jacob Macias kicked the winning extra point, blocked a point-after attempt and recorded consecutive sacks in the final two minutes to thwart the Raiders’ final drive at Channel Islands.

Santa Paula’s Xavier Ramirez scored on a 20-yard run 40 seconds earlier to tie the score, 27-27, and Macias added the kick to put the Cardinals (4-0-1) ahead to stay.

Augie Casteneda scored on runs of 26 and 80 yards in the third quarter to give Channel Islands (1-4) a 27-21 lead. But Macias blocked Adelfo Robles’ conversion kick after Casteneda’s second touchdown.

Casteneda finished with 174 yards in 13 carries, and Tommy Menga had 168 yards in 28 carries.

Ramirez had 152 yards in 12 carries, including touchdown runs of 57 and four yards in the first half to help Santa Paula build a 21-7 lead.
