Olson’s Goals Help Sink Ventura

Julie Olson scored two goals in the second overtime to spark Valley College to a 17-15 victory over Ventura on Wednesday in a Western State Conference women’s water polo match at Valley.

Valley trailed, 13-12, when Olson scored her fourth goal of the game with 14 seconds left in regulation.

Olson had six goals for Valley (10-5-1, 1-2 in conference play).

Sara Huhn and Lauren O’Brien each had four goals for Ventura.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Frontier League Meet No. 2--Santa Clara, paced by the 1-2 finish of Bobby Hull and Michael Reed, edged nine-time defending league champion Nordhoff, 27-29, for first place at Soka University.

Calabasas was third with 82 points, followed by Malibu with 94.

Nordhoff lost for the second time in 29 league meets.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Kennedy def. Reseda, 15-0, 16-14, 15-6--Brie Eckel had 11 kills and Jevay Grooms had eight kills and two blocks for Kennedy in a Valley Mission League match at Reseda.

Jeannette Hernandez had 13 assists and five aces for Kennedy (4-3, 2-2).

Shelby Anderson led the Regents (2-5, 1-3) with four aces.

Viewpoint def. Cate, 15-12, 15-1, 12-15, 15-3--Calais Brown had 15 kills and four aces, and Sarah Kellard had 16 kills for host Viewpoint (10-0) in a nonleague match.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Thousand Oaks 24, Westlake 0--Eric Markle had seven goals, Jean Luc Renault had four, and the Lancers (8-6, 1-2) scored 12 goals in the first quarter in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.

Crescenta Valley 9, Glendale 7--Jeff Little had four goals for the Falcons in a Pacific League victory at Crescenta Valley.

Mike Hoy had 16 saves for Crescenta Valley (15-3, 3-0).
