Camarillo Leaves Pacific in Rear-View Mirror

Katrina Sutton shot one-over-par 37 and Camarillo High clinched the Pacific View League girls’ golf title on Thursday with a 123-132 victory over Rio Mesa at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard.

Sutton, a freshman, beat her previous low of 38 and had consecutive birdies and a par over the final three holes.

Camarillo (11-1, 7-0 in league play) won its third consecutive title but the first outright after sharing the crown with Rio Mesa the last two seasons.

Burbank 141, Crescenta Valley 142--Moah Chang shot five-over-par 36 and the Bulldogs (12-5) won a nonleague match at El Cariso Golf Course in Sylmar.

Chang birdied the third and fifth holes but had a triple bogey on the final hole.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

North Hollywood 20, Grant 41--Alfaro Nelson won in 16:45 and teammate Melo Christian was second in 18:07 for the Huskies (3-1), who took four of the top five places in a Sunset Six League meet at Pierce College.

El Camino Real 21, Cleveland 43--Chris Wells-Anders, runner-up last year at the state championships in the 800 meters, won in 16:06 and teammate Josh Quint was third in 17:25 for the Conquistadores (4-1, 3-1) in a West Valley League meet at Pierce College.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

North Hollywood 15, Grant 50--Natalie Stein ran 18:59 and the Huskies swept the first five places in a Sunset Six League meet at Pierce College.

El Camino Real 21, Cleveland 35--Julia Flores of Cleveland won in 20:47, but the Conquistadores (5-0, 4-0) took the next five places.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Taft def. Birmingham, 15-12, 15-4, 15-0--Heather Hamilton had 15 kills, five blocks and six aces to lead the Toreadors to a West Valley League victory.

Shelley Rom added seven kills and Melissa Watanabe had 25 assists for Taft (8-1, 6-1), which remained one game behind Chatsworth in the league race.

Taft plays Chatsworth on Tuesday.

Chatsworth def. Granada Hills, 15-12, 15-9, 15-6--Linda Wang had 19 kills and the Chancellors won a West Valley League match at Chatsworth.

Carlie Allison had 51 assists and Leila Pate added eight kills, five aces and 10 digs for Chatsworth (9-1, 7-0), ranked 10th in The Times’ regional poll.

Buena def. Ventura, 15-8, 15-5, 16-14--Janee Richards had 25 assists and seven aces, and Lindsey Martin added 11 kills and six blocks for the Bulldogs (5-3, 3-2), who overcame a 12-4 deficit in the third game of a Channel League match at Ventura.

Royal def. Agoura, 11-15, 15-9, 15-6, 15-1--Nevena Siljegovic finished the fourth game with six consecutive aces and the Highlanders (10-6, 7-1) won a Marmonte League match at Agoura.

Siljegovic finished with a school-record 13 aces. She also had 15 assists and eight digs.

Andrea Burke of Royal had seven kills and 13 digs.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

St. Bonaventure 13, Oak Park 5--Freshman Katie Callaghan swept at No. 1 singles for the Seraphs, who clinched the Tri-Valley League title at St. Bonaventure.

Catherine Hillman and Allie Hause swept at No. 1 doubles for St. Bonaventure (12-1, 6-0), ranked No. 9 in Southern Section Division V.

Agoura 11, Thousand Oaks 7-- Yassie Entekhabi and Leah Kirsch didn’t lose a game in singles and the Chargers (9-5, 7-3) won a Marmonte League match at Agoura.

Burbank 10, Hart 8--The No. 3 doubles team of Shelly Choi and Sandy Park won a decisive tiebreaker, 7-4, and the Bulldogs (12-2, 8-0) won a Foothill League match at Hart.
