Glendale 23, Santa Barbara 13--Joseph Kroells completed 19 of 27 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns for the Vaqueros in a WSC Northern Division victory at Glendale High.

Kroells threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Sims to give Glendale (4-3, 2-2) a 16-3 lead 28 seconds before halftime and added a 12-yard scoring pass to Michael Bautista with 5:05 left in the third quarter to increase Glendale’s lead to 23-13.

Sims had five receptions for 102 yards and Bautista added five catches for 41 yards.

Jonathan Hu recovered two fumbles and Pablo Martinez blocked a punt for Glendale, which held Santa Barbara to 33 yards rushing.

Commandor Lenoir rushed for 61 yards in 22 carries, including a four-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter that capped a 17-play, 87-yard drive and gave Glendale a 6-0 lead.

Seth Santoro kicked a 34-yard field goal to increase Glendale’s lead to 10-0 with 12:55 remaining in the second quarter.

Zac Dean of Santa Barbara completed 23 of 43 passes for 259 yards and two interceptions. Justin Seely had 11 receptions for 126 yards and J.J. Brunner added four catches for 70 yards for Santa Barbara (0-7, 0-4), which pulled to within 16-13 on Shawn Brantley’s one-yard touchdown run with 8:12 left in the third quarter.

Scott Gilbert clinched the game for Glendale with a 42-yard interception return to Santa Barbara’s 28-yard line with 1:24 remaining.
