Luke Riordan, a senior outfielder from Westlake High, has become the first area baseball player to commit for 2001 to Cal State Northridge.

“He has all the talent in the world,” said Coach Chuck Berrington of Westlake.

Riordan, who is 6-feet-2 and 195 pounds, is the brother of former Westlake standout Matt Riordan.

The Warriors could have four players sign with Division I schools. Pitcher Tyler Adamczyk is being recruited by Duke, Notre Dame and Tulane. Catcher Brandon Nickeas is being pursued by UCLA and Stanford. Infielder Ryan McCarthy has interest from UC Irvine.

“We felt like we had a positive meeting, but they did not reach a final resolution,” Bond said. “We could know more on Friday.”

Zoetewey is the defending Foothill League cross-country champion and ran 4:20.90 in the 1,600 meters to place fifth in the Southern Section Division II championships in track.
