North Hills L.A. Baptist 30, Brethren Christian 17--A devastating passing attack and solid defense combined to lead L.A. Baptist (3-0) to a nonleague victory at Clark Avenue Field in Long Beach.

Quarterback Steven Graham completed 19 of 30 passes for 282 yards in directing the L.A. Baptist offense. He also threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another score.

L.A. Baptist’s special teams were also highly successful. Lord Cole returned a second-quarter punt 67 yards to the Brethren Christian (0-2-1) five-yard line. This led to L.A. Baptist’s third score of the night, a five-yard pass to Adam Weiss for a 20-8 lead.

The 6-4 Weiss, and his 6-1 teammate, Andrew Petersen, were able to use their height advantage to repeatedly burn the smaller Brethren Christian defensive backs for big yardage. The two wideouts combined for 235 receiving yards and had one touchdown reception each.

Leon Green was stellar in defeat for Brethren Christian, rushing for one first quarter touchdown, and amassing 162 total yards for the game.
