Saugus 5, Rancho Cucamonga 1--Kyle Love (2-0) pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Centurions (10-7) in a consolation victory.

Adam Tripp’s home run to lead off the sixth broke a 1-1 tie and Garner Humphrey added a three-run triple in the inning.

Valencia 10, Calabasas 2--Freshman Matt Aidem was four for four with two runs batted in and Richie Martin allowed two hits in six innings to help the Vikings (10-8) win.

BISHOP GORMAN TOURNAMENT

Poly 17, Viewmont (Utah) 5--Zach Sims-Jones, Gabe Pena and Alfredo Gomez each drove in three runs and the Parrots had eight batters hit by pitches.

Miguel Gomez had three hits and two RBIs for the Parrots (10-5). Pena hit a two-run triple.

Western 3, Kennedy 2; Santa Monica 9, Kennedy 2--Eric Moore had four hits for the Golden Cougars (12-7), who committed eight errors in losing two games.

Coach Manny Alvarado of Kennedy received some good news before leaving for Las Vegas. His top pitchers, Adam Geery and Moore, have been cleared to resume pitching after being sidelined for almost a month.

Moore was diagnosed as having inflammation in his rotator cuff. Geery had a pinched nerve.

Granada Hills 6, Pleasant Grove (Utah) 1--Eddie Degerman (4-2) struck out eight in five innings and Ryan Braun had two hits for the Highlanders (11-6).

Earlier, Bobby Baca had three hits and Mike Seiser added three RBIs in a 9-4 victory over Riordan of San Francisco.

Chaminade 9, Riverton (Utah) 1--T.J. Franco allowed two hits over 6 1/3 innings and struck out 13, and the Eagles beat Riverton (9-1).

Bobby Paschal had two hits and D.J. Milonas hit a two-run double for Chaminade (11-2).

Birmingham 10, Valley (Nev.) 2--Jimmy McGrath had three hits and drove in three runs, and Jose Carrillo had three hits and scored three runs for the Patriots (13-5).

Daniel Yaacobi (1-0) allowed five hits and two earned runs over five innings and didn’t walk a batter.

OTHER GAMES

St. Bonaventure 8, Carpinteria 1--Gilbert Infante (4-1) set a school record with 16 strikeouts for the Seraphs (11-4, 6-2) in a Tri-Valley League victory at Carpinteria.

The senior left-hander, who pitched a four-hitter, broke a 27-year-old record set by Lou Marietta, who had 15 strikeouts.

Buckley 10, Yeshiva 0--Matt Wolf became the second Buckley pitcher to throw a no-hitter this season, winning a Liberty League game at West L.A. College that was halted after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
