Right-hander Brandon Webb (2-1) allowed one run on four hits in five innings and catcher J.D. Closser hit his third home run of the season as the Lancaster JetHawks (7-3) beat the San Bernardino Stampede, 6-1, in a California League game at San Bernardino.

David Lamb of Newbury Park, who in the last two seasons appeared in 62 major league games for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and New York Mets, signed with the Colorado Rockies last week and was assigned to double-A Carolina. . . . Outfielder J.P. Roberge of St. Francis signed with the Philadelphia Phillies last week and is filling in for injured top prospect Reggie Taylor (sprained ankle) at triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre. He had two hits and drove in a run in a 9-1 victory at Syracuse. . . .
