Southern California Team Wins Junior Golf

Bolee Kim of West Covina, Elena Kurokawa of Redondo Beach, Julie McKenna of Newbury Park and Angela Won of Irvine combined to give Southern California an 18-stroke victory over Northern California in the Girls’ Junior America’s Cup at Mesa Verde Country Club.

Kim shot 86-77-81, Kurokawa shot 73-72-74, McKenna shot 79-71-72 and Won shot 72-80-70 for a total of 660. The best three scores count toward the team score each day. Mexico finished third at 679 in the 18-team tournament made up of squads from the Western United States, Mexico and Canada.

Colin Wilcox of Camarillo, Adam Porzak of Poway and Tiffany Chudy of Temecula were named to the 12-player U.S. team that will compete in the Junior Ryder Cup matches Sept. 25-26 in Ireland.
