North Torrance had a full team on the field for its Southern Section Division X semifinal against Inglewood, but quarterback Kenny Brown turned it into a one-man show.

Brown passed for 331 yards and six touchdowns in leading North Torrance to a second-half comeback and a 42-33 victory Friday night at Coleman Stadium in Inglewood.

North Torrance (12-1) trailed, 33-21, at halftime, but Brown’s three touchdown passes in the second half and Inglewood’s five second-half turnovers turned the game around.

‘Everybody was playing with heart,’ said Brown, who completed 22 of 34 passes and also rushed 25 times for 25 yards. ‘It doesn’t look like it on the stats, but it was a total team effort.”

Brown set school records for yardage and touchdown passes and also had an interception as free safety on defense.

Inglewood (10-3) used its deceptive wing-T running attack to build leads of 13-0 and 21-7 in the first half but was a victim of turnovers in the second.

Renaldo Davis had 146 yards in 15 carries and Brian Flowers had 93 yards in 11 carries, but the Sentinels, who had 339 total rushing yards, had only 101 in the second half.

‘Our defense had a little talk at halftime,’ Brown said. ‘We knew they were a good second-half team, but we’re a good second-half team too.”

North Torrance receiver Jeff Gray caught nine passes for 120 yards and a touchdown, and Michael Bolio had six catches for 116 yards and three touchdowns.
