DIVISION VI: Lakewood Mayfair (10-3) vs. La Mirada (11-1) at Cerritos College, 7:30--Fourth-seeded Mayfair, by virtue of a coin flip, entered the playoffs as the Suburban League’s first-place team after sharing the title with Cerritos and La Mirada. Having lost to La Mirada, 28-0, in Week 5, the Monsoons have considerable ground to make up. La Mirada must guard against overconfidence, having already dominated Mayfair once behind Chris Moreno’s two touchdown passes and Junior Vaca’s two touchdown runs. La Mirada must also guard against an emotional letdown after a 13-10 overtime victory over Newport Beach Newport Harbor in the semifinals. Mayfair, going for its second title, hasn’t lost since the La Mirada game. La Mirada, a finalist five times in Division VIII from 1992-98, last won the title in 1992.
