Quarterback Jeff Garcia was downgraded Wednesday to questionable for San Francisco’s game against Philadelphia on Saturday because of sprained rib cartilage.

Garcia expects to play, but he was kept out of practice. He was injured in San Francisco’s victory over Miami on Sunday.

“There’s not a question in my mind that I’ll play, but it’s something that’s going to be a day-to-day type of thing,” Garcia said.

Garcia has 2,910 yards passing and 25 touchdowns. He is the league’s fourth-rated quarterback behind Rich Gannon, Kurt Warner and Brett Favre.

A source told Associated Press that New Orleans receiver Albert Connell was suspended by the team for the rest of the season for allegedly stealing money from teammate Deuce McAllister.

ESPN.com first reported the theft allegation against Connell, and the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Wednesday it involved at least $300, enough to make it a felony.

The Saints apparently have video surveillance to support their allegation, ESPN reported.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department is investigating.

Bill Gramatica, Arizona’s rookie kicker, is not embarrassed by the nationally televised jump for joy that resulted in a season-ending knee injury.

He might tone down his celebrations after field goals when he recovers from surgery Jan. 2 to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but he isn’t making any promises.

Gramatica, like his brother Martin of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is an exuberant personality, and that’s not going to change.

“It’s not for show,” Gramatica said. “I’m not going to change the way I feel about field goals.... When I stop feeling the way I do, I’m going to retire, because I’m doing it because I love it.”

Four of the 15 fans arrested Sunday at Cleveland’s game have pleaded not guilty.

Team spokesman Todd Stewart said four more fans were charged Wednesday and that the team has leads on about 10 people.

Fans hurled plastic bottles and other objects on the field after an official overturned a call late in the Browns’ 15-10 loss to Jacksonville.

The incident at Cleveland prompted officials at Giants Stadium and the Georgia Dome to keep plastic bottles away from fans for Sunday’s games.

At St. Louis, beer will be poured for fans, but bottled water will be sold.
