Saddleback to Host Mt. San Jacinto

Saddleback College, which has won 25 games in a row, hosts Mt. San Jacinto in the second round of the Southern California men’s basketball playoffs at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Gauchos, seeded second in Southern California, are 30-2. Mt. San Jacinto (20-12) is seeded 15th. Fullerton (22-10) is seeded 11th and will play at sixth-seeded L.A. Valley (22-11), also at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

In the women’s tournament, Santa Ana and Irvine Valley play at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Santa Ana (24-6) is seeded fourth and plays host to No. 20 Glendale (18-13), and 10th-seeded L.A. Valley (23-12) visits seventh-seeded Irvine Valley (21-10).

The men’s and women’s winners advance to Saturday’s regional finals.

FOOTBALL

Mission Viejo wide receiver Jason Hibbard has signed with Hawaii, his father Richard said. The first-team All-South Coast League selection had 39 receptions last season for 731 yards with five touchdowns.
