Dunn Pitches Perfect Game for Oxnard

Patrick Dunn of Oxnard College pitched a perfect game in a 6-0 victory over Ventura in a Western State Conference Northern Division baseball game Friday at Oxnard.

Dunn (3-1), a freshman right-hander from Ventura High, struck out six and threw only 85 pitches. Coach Jon Larson said it was the first perfect game since the program began in 1979.

Paul McAnulty hit a two-run home run for Oxnard (9-7, 3-1 in conference play) in the fifth inning, after Jared Krehbiel’s solo shot in the fourth.

Saul Gallegos had two hits and two runs batted in, and Josh Miller had two hits and one RBI for the Condors.

Cal State Northridge 7-4, Temple 6-0--Kameron Loe threw eight scoreless innings in the second game to help the Matadors complete a doubleheader sweep at Northridge.

Tim Arroyo’s single in the bottom of the ninth inning capped a two-run rally for Northridge (12-6) in the first game.

Northridge third baseman Robert Smith was six for nine in both games.

Mike Frick (1-0) earned the victory in the opener with a scoreless ninth inning.

Shortstop J.T. Stotts had two doubles in the first game. Phillip Archer homered to lead off the ninth inning of the first game, tying the score, 6-6.

Loe (1-0) struck out eight, walked two and scattered three hits.

Pepperdine 3, St. Mary’s 2--Dan Haren allowed two runs and struck out six in 10 innings and Tony Garcia hit a run-scoring double in the 11th to lift the host Waves (13-4, 3-1) in a West Coast Conference game.

First baseman Jared Pitney went three for five for Pepperdine with his fifth home run. Jacob Barrack (1-0) earned the victory in relief.
