Lorenzo Booker of Ventura St. Bonaventure became the state’s career rushing leader when he gained 186 yards and scored four touchdowns in an 80-13 victory over Calabasas in a Southern Section Division XI first-round playoff game Thursday at Ventura High.

Booker has 7,826 yards, surpassing Dominique Dorsey of Tulare, who finished his career last year with 7,761 yards. Booker has 2,194 yards and 37 touchdowns this season. He carried 10 times and scored on runs of one, 46, 55 and 16 yards in a 63-point first half.

The two-time defending champion Seraphs (11-0), which set a program record with 80 points, extended its winning streak to 39 games.

“This was a goal since my sophomore year, when I realized I could do serious damage [at St. Bonaventure],” Booker said. “I knew it wouldn’t work without being in the right place at the right time. I never thought I’d be doing this well.”
